I see UX Design as a method through which to direct and influence behaviour. It is about the way people interact with software, machinery, a certain experience, or even other people. I am a great believer in defining a goal in terms of behaviour before deciding on the medium. Together, science, technology, and an understanding of human behaviour are what make the difference between true design and making stuff.
I'm an idealist at heart: there is always so much I see in the world around me that can and should be better. I am a firm believer in society and the feeling of solidarity between people and acting on those feelings.
I feel like I can make a difference both through politics and through design; because while politics changes the rules of society, design can change the way people _feel_ about society, each other and the way they act within it. That's what it's all about.
